The distinction between PU and PVC is still relatively easy. Judging from the corners, PU base cloth is much thicker than PVC, and the hand feel is different; PU has a softer hand feel, while PVC is harder; it can also be burned with fire, and PU has a much lighter smell than PVC.

It can be distinguished by the method of soaking in gasoline: use a small piece of fabric, put it in gasoline for half an hour, and then take it out. If it is PVC artificial leather, it will be hard and brittle; if it is PU synthetic leather, it will not be hard and brittle.

There are also some differences in the range of applications of the two materials. In footwear, PVC leather is mainly used for linings or non-load-bearing parts, or in the manufacture of children's shoes. PU leather can be used for footwear fabrics or load-bearing parts. For luggage, PVC leather is used more. This is because the items in the bag, unlike the feet worn by the shoes, do not radiate heat and do not carry personal weight.
